There are so many things about this wedding that give me all the feels.
First off, I have known Sharon for a long time. We have known one another since all the way back to Sexsmith Elementary School, where she was a grade older than I was. So, it was a pleasure to first be invited back into her life as she was set to marry her sweetheart, Nathan.
Second, they got married at the same church that my Grandma attended and that my Dad grew up in, so that was really special to me! I haven't been there for some time since my Grandma passed away, so to visit her place of worship was such a reminiscent experience for me.
Third, when Sharon's florist knew that the weather was not going to be all that pleasant, she offered her home. She definitely upped the bar for any florist I will continue to work with. So, here is a plug for her: Go check out her designs on Facebook! Not only is Christa kind but she is talented! Also, her house is gorgeous so don't forget to scroll down to see her Tuscan dream home in Grande Prairie of all places...
Fourth, I just love all of the little 'isms that are Sharon and Nathan. Seriously, as you scroll through see all the looks they give one another . I promise they are just as sweet and adorable in person. Not to mention that their wedding was full of personal touches honouring BOTH of them which I love!
Fifth and finally, what other wedding do you know that has a semi truck as the transportation for the couple? The groom's friends gave him this awesome surprise right after their ceremony. So much fun!
Church: Faith Lutheran Church
Reception Venue: Grande Prairie Lions Club
Florist: The Enchanting Bouquet
Well, maybe this could possibly be one of the most beautiful families I have ever seen. Like seriously, you scroll through and disagree with me. I DARE you.
Adetola and Josepha graciously invited me into their home in Edmonton to photograph their newborn, Amani who is just the cutest little guy and their toddler, Adetola Jr. It was such a sweet session and they were so kind!
Here is what I learned in this session: You do not need a large space to get great photographs. We literally did not move from the area of their couch in their living room and from the different uses of light and creatively positioning the camera, we were able to get a diverse collection in a short amount of time. You guys, some times I impress myself...
Thank you again to Adetola and Josepha for having me! I had such a wonderful time with you.
Patricia and Monty met me downtown on Jasper Avenue, Edmonton at Remedy Cafe for their engagement session. This was the first time I had met them as they were on a bit of a time crunch ! They planned their wedding in 2 months. Wow. I could barely do it in 8.. so props to them!
We spent the hour walking downtown Edmonton, making our way to whatever beautiful space we stumbled upon including a quick stop to the Alberta Legislature and some pretty side gardens and intimate spaces. We also stumbled upon a gorgeous space with golden hour light starting to stream through. It was perfect!
Thank you to Patricia and Monty for having me as part of their day! Be on the lookout for their wedding photos, coming to the blog very soon!
Sam and Luke came to me through Luke's mom who is actually my Dad's cousin! I am so glad she referred them my way. If this session is any indication of what is to come for their 2019 summer wedding, I am SO EXCITED.
I drove up to Lac La Biche in September last year for this gorgeous Fall engagement session. First off, I love fall as a photographer. The colours, the textures, the light. It can not be beat. They introduced me to this beautiful park called Sir Winston Churchill Park right on Lac La Biche. You guys... It is STUNNING. You drive out down this narrow road that has the lake on both sides and you enter into this wonderland of trails and beaches. Then you add in a sweet couple and you have one heck of a photo shoot. I had such a good time and it just gets me so amped for the summer to come. Bring on the wedding!
Part 2 of this week's blog posts is of course the newborn session of this darling boy. Myles and Niomi had Jayden in July of 2018. He has been such a sweet addition to their family and it is amazing the difference only a few months can make. He is already growing like a weed, can sit up on his own, and is taking his first round of swimming lessons! Not to mention this child is SO. DARN. CUTE it hurts.
Time goes by fast and babies change at a lighting fast rate. So, I am recommending you do two things .
1. Pregnant? Book a newborn session before the baby is born. The goal is to have the newborn sessions at least within 10 days of their birth. This is for a few reasons. One being that they sleep so much better in the first 10 days and more frequently which is easier to photograph. The second is that that little newborn face changes SO FAST. Get your photos booked! Not having a baby, gift this to someone else. You will be their new favorite person.
2. Attend my DSLR workshop on March 16 from 1-5pm in Edmonton. If you have a small family and you don't know how to take photos with your DSLR camera with the manual settings, I HIGHLY recommend you join us. There are a few reasons for this, one being that you simply can not hire a professional all the time for life's precious moments and it is such a gift to be able to take beautiful photos of your family. Time flies by. You don't want to miss a moment.

The amount of times I have written about my love for this family is a billion times, for sure. They really are the best. Some of our dearest friends and my most loyal clients, Niomi and Myles are some of the best. So much so, I am bringing you TWO blog posts on the same day of their latest family adventure, little Jayden.
This shoot was at the Kinsmen Park in Edmonton, along the river valley on a gorgeous June day. I love the sweet moments down by the river valley where we convinced Eli to approach his baby brother. What a kid!
Sam and Dale were married last September in Edmonton on a beautiful fall day. The leaves were just starting to turn, the weather started out a little drizzly but eventually, the sun did come out and we got perfect photography conditions. I couldn't ask for more.
When I first met Sam, I had no idea that she would be one of my biggest cheerleaders. Literally, she has been cheering me on in every Facebook group and through so many of our conversations, whether it be through text or in person I have always walked away feeling so fuelled with confidence! That means so much to me as a professional and has been such an encouragement in this last year.
I also didn't realize that she would have such an eye for detail. The day was perfectly planned and there were so many gorgeous details. The florals, the dress, the venue. All were exquisite. What I also loved is that through the whole day, she honoured Dale and his love (putting it lightly) of golf right down to the golf tees in the men's boutonnieres. Both of them were reflected so well throughout the day.
Lastly, I have to encourage you to head to the bottom of the post and see the sunset photos that ALMOST didn't happen and we are so glad to see that they did! I will never discourage sunset photos EVER. They are now an essential to any wedding day!
So, please enjoy this gorgeous wedding and send Sam and Dale some love!

What I always tell clients when we meet for a shoot is that if you are having fun and enjoying just being together, it is going to translate on camera. It is going to give the photos life and tell your story. This shoot is the perfect example of that. Randi and Keith know how to have fun. It shows.
We toured downtown Edmonton along the River Valley in July last year on a very hot evening! But we caught some beautiful golden hour light in the end and it was MAGICAL. Of course, now they are on their magical honeymoon in New Zealand so.. magical could be an overstatement here. But WOW. It was beautiful.
Baby Lucy was born in June 2018 in Edmonton to Adele and John. I am so thankful to have been asked to enter into their home to capture such a special time for them! They are such sweet, strong parents. Charlotte and Lucy are so lucky to have them raise them to be just as kind.
Tip: When others see newborn photos they see these sweet moments that are so serene and gentle but let's remember everyone that babies have their own agenda on photo session days! And it is 100% normal. Take Baby Lucy for example, she was not in the mood for photos that day but we still got some beautiful shots that her parents will be able to treasure. Take the pressure off of yourself and always expect the unexpected when it comes to kids!
Porcha and Dallas are the real deal. I mean it.
I met Porcha and Dallas in 2017 when I hosted a teenage girl event at my former junior high. I asked for them to come in and answer questions about what it means to have a healthy dating relationship. Well, the girls fired questions at them about dating, marriage, friendships, athletics.. And they took it like total champs. I gave them a gift certificate for my photography for them to use however they wanted and didn't hear anything back for a while..
Fast forward to Spring 2018 and Porcha sends me a Facebook message saying she is pregnant and was wondering if she could still use the certificate. Of course, I said yes and then said she could let me know when she wanted a shoot when it came a little closer. I said the usual, "Don't hesitate to ask any motherhood questions" line which I have said to others before (fully meaning they can ask me ANYTHING. I am an open book) and she said yes! So, we got together for coffee at my house while my little guy napped and talked all things motherhood. It was such a special meeting for me and we became pretty fast friends from there.
Motherhood is a difficult road but it is best done with a community of encouragers at your side. I am so thankful for those who were there to answer my questions and calm my doubts, I can only recommend you find your people to be there for you too.
Also, the maternity shoot was a blast! We had the best time shooting down at Terwillegar Dog Park in South Edmonton last fall and it was again, a very special experience for me. These two have a very deep, beautiful relationship and only speak incredibly highly of the other person. I have absolutely no doubts that their little man, James, is going to have the best family to grow up in. What a lucky little dude!
