Baby Lucy was born in June 2018 in Edmonton to Adele and John. I am so thankful to have been asked to enter into their home to capture such a special time for them! They are such sweet, strong parents. Charlotte and Lucy are so lucky to have them raise them to be just as kind.
Tip: When others see newborn photos they see these sweet moments that are so serene and gentle but let's remember everyone that babies have their own agenda on photo session days! And it is 100% normal. Take Baby Lucy for example, she was not in the mood for photos that day but we still got some beautiful shots that her parents will be able to treasure. Take the pressure off of yourself and always expect the unexpected when it comes to kids!
Carina and Steve asked me to photograph their family again! We met in Sherwood Park, where they live, earlier this spring. The day started with some family photos with their almost one year old, Brinley. She is ADORABLE. I was fortunate enough to be asked a while back to do their maternity photos, so it is so fun to see what a year can do to people! New parents, can I get an AMEN?!
We finished the day with a cake smash in their kitchen. Carina put together the backdrop and all of the props. She did an incredible job, every detail accounted for. She even made the cake all herself... I don't know Carina, you could maybe have a side hustle for these things. Don't miss it lower down in the blog!

This cutie has stolen the hearts of anyone who knows her. I have been staking my claim on her from the beginning for my own baby boy, but I know he will need to get in line.
This August I was able to spend the early morning with this gorgeous family (am I right??) and celebrate this dolly's birthday with a cake smash and some family photos. I have never done a cake smash before and was honored to be asked. Miss Ivy, however, was not having that cake. So it became a family affair.
I asked Vicki a little bit more about what it has been like to welcome Ivy to the family. She says that she is full of personality, curiosity and getting into everything (I can so relate). The best part of this year? "It's been awesome getting to introduce her to people and places and things we love and experiencing them like new again with her." This line is my absolute favorite though, "Our life definitely looks different than it used to... its less about us and faraway adventures and a little more about roots and family and traditions and quiet." Can I just say, "Amen!"
I ran my first EVER giveaway in May. It was a great learning experience for me and something that I have been wanting to do for a LONG time. I will be doing more for sure and honestly, I can't wait for it. Especially when the person who wins it, is someone like Jordyn.
After starting our interactions to get this session arranged, I just got more and more excited and thankful that Jordyn had won the photography and beauty session by TheBeautyNinja Makeup Artistry. She is so deserving and her family was such a delight to spend time with. The way that Chris and Jordyn interacted with their children was so loving and sweet which I am sure you will be able to see in this post.
Once again, a HUGE thank you to Jacquelyn Pham from TheBeautyNinja Makeup Artistry. Make sure to check out her beautiful work on her website and Facebook page.
What a treat!
Recently, I said that every session has a story. This one is not short of a story.
Jordan is a good friend of one of my dear friends, Niomi, so I was absolutely delighted to be asked to Cory and her place near Valhalla, AB. I was up for a family occasion in Grande Prairie and was able to go out there for their family session.
The plan was for us to go outside for photos. Well, the wind was a little fierce and so we had to scrap that. Luckily, their home is gorgeous with lots of natural light and we were able to take some inside!
We got rolling inside and Miss Trae was not having it! Normally a very happy little girl, I must have come on the wrong day. Thankfully, we were able to get her to smile through a few of her parents clever tactics. Including using a mirror.. that they may have had to clean after. See evidence below.
Oh, and I also stepped on Jordan's glasses.. Oops.
But even with a little chaos, I think we captured the essence of this sweet family in the few hours we had together. Full of love and fun.
Maybe leave a little congratulations for Cory and Jordan on their upcoming wedding in the comments.
